About Bottlenecks Calculator

Your trusted partner in PC performance optimization

At Bottlenecks Calculator, our goal is to help PC users understand what may be limiting their system’s performance before they spend money on unnecessary upgrades.

A powerful CPU or GPU does not always guarantee the performance you expect. The way your processor, graphics card, memory, storage, display resolution, and workload work together can have a major impact on real-world performance.

That is why we created Bottlenecks-Calculator.com to make PC performance analysis easier to understand and more useful when planning upgrades.

Our Story

Bottlenecks Calculator was created by its original founder and is now owned and run by Mubashar Iqbal.

The site began after an expensive PC upgrade mistake.

I had purchased an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, expecting a major improvement in gaming performance. While performance improved, the results were nowhere near what I expected. I was still experiencing frame drops and stuttering.

After researching the problem, the founder discovered that an older Intel Core i5-8400 was limiting the performance of the new graphics card in the workloads being run.

The GPU was powerful, but the overall system was not properly balanced.

That experience showed me how easy it is to spend money on the wrong PC component when you do not clearly understand what is actually limiting performance.

It became one of the main reasons behind building Bottlenecks Calculator.

What We Do

Bottlenecks Calculator is a free PC performance analysis tool designed to help users evaluate the balance of their system and identify potential performance limitations.

Instead of looking only at the CPU and GPU, the calculator considers several parts of a PC configuration, including the:

  • CPU
  • GPU
  • RAM
  • Storage
  • Screen resolution
  • Intended use of the system

The selected workload also matters. A system used primarily for gaming may behave differently from the same hardware used for video editing, streaming, 3D rendering, multitasking, or general everyday use.

Our aim is to present this information in a way that is useful even if you are not a PC hardware expert.

More Than a Bottleneck Percentage

A percentage alone does not explain everything about PC performance.

For that reason, Bottlenecks Calculator is designed to provide additional context around the result, including performance information, component balance, FPS estimates where applicable, and possible upgrade recommendations.

Users can also generate detailed reports to review their system analysis.

The goal is not simply to tell you that a bottleneck may exist. We want to help you understand where the limitation may be and what you can reasonably do about it.

Built Around Real PC Use

PC performance can change depending on the game, application, graphics settings, resolution, background processes, drivers, cooling, and many other factors.

For this reason, bottleneck results should be understood as performance estimates rather than guaranteed measurements for every individual PC or workload.

We use hardware performance data together with system configuration factors to provide practical estimates that can help users compare components and make more informed decisions.

Detailed limitations and important information about interpreting calculator results are available in our Disclaimer.

Who We Help

Bottlenecks Calculator is built for anyone trying to better understand their PC hardware.

Whether you are building a new gaming PC, upgrading an existing system, comparing a CPU and GPU combination, working with content-creation applications, and simply trying to understand why your computer is not performing as expected, our aim is to make the decision easier.

You should not need to be a hardware expert just to understand whether two components are a sensible match.

Our Commitment

We want Bottlenecks Calculator to remain useful, accessible, and straightforward.

Our focus is on helping users make better-informed PC hardware decisions without confusing them with unnecessary technical complexity.

We also work to keep the hardware information used by the site relevant as new processors, graphics cards, and other PC components become available.

Most importantly, we believe users should understand that a calculator is a decision-support tool not a replacement for testing an individual system under its actual workload.

Privacy and Transparency

Using the calculator does not require creating an account.

We aim to be transparent about how the website works, how information is handled, and the limitations of the results we provide.

For more information about data and privacy practices, please review our Privacy Policy. For important limitations regarding calculations, performance estimates, and recommendations, please review our Disclaimer.

About the Founder

Mubashar Iqbal is a UK-based web developer and search specialist who now builds and runs Bottlenecks Calculator. He turns published CPU and GPU specifications and benchmark data into clear pairing advice and keeps the tools and guides current as new hardware launches.

His experience with PC hardware including dealing with CPU and GPU imbalance in his own systems led to the creation of Bottlenecks-Calculator.com.

The purpose of the site is simple: help users better understand their hardware before making an upgrade decision.
